Description
Pharmacological class: Integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) – antiretroviral agent.
Mechanism of action:
Raltegravir inhibits the integrase enzyme, blocking the strand transfer step of retroviral DNA integration into the host genome. This prevents stable infection of host cells and limits viral replication.
